Putin signs law cancelling audio, video, software disk licensing
MOSCOW, Jun 17 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on cancellation of licensing to produce samples of audiovisual works, software, databases, and audio records on any physical media, according to a document released on Monday on the portal of legal information.
The licensing requirements had been in force since 1998 to protect intellectual property and fight against counterfeit.
Expansion of the Internet and information and telecommunications technologies hugely reduced demand for physical media of audiovisual works and audio records.
